With coworking spaces, I recommend checking out Selina in Lapa, My Office or My Company, both in Barra de Tijuca. Doca is one of the biggest coworking spaces in Rio and is always a reliable option.

To spend time at the beach in Rio you can go to Copacabana or Ipanema. Copacabana beach is more frequented by tourist but you can walk along the beach and drink Caipirinha or beer. If you want a less crowded beach, head to Leblon or Barra da Tijuca. You'll find a very relaxed atmosphere compared to Copacabana.

If possible, watch a soccer game in the Maracana Stadium. The atmosphere is electric and needs to be witnessed. It's one of my favorite activities in the city.

For safety reasons, avoid using buses, especially at night. Stick to the metro, train, public minivans, Uber, or taxi.

Some areas in Rio are safer than others. Things tend to get more dangerous as you move north, towards Zona Norte. The neighborhoods in the south are quite safe such as Ipanema, Copacabana, Leblon and Botafogo (even at night). I personally would avoid the favelas, even on a guided tour.

On Sundays, half the road from Ipanema to Copa Cabana is closed to traffic so that people can simply walk and enjoy. There's a great, positive atmosphere as a result and it's a fun way to spend the day.

Many taxi drivers are dishonest and will take you for a long ride if they think you donโ€™t know where youโ€™re going.ย Also, if youโ€™re in a taxi stuck in traffic, roll up the windows to take care of your belongings.

For day tripsย or getaways look into Prainha, Angra Dos Reis, Buzios if you want beaches. Petrรณpolis and surrounding areas are great places to hike. Paraty is a beautiful town. If you like nature, you must go to Parque Nacional Serra dos ร“rgรฃos to enjoy the exotic forest, the wild animals, and the spectacular mountains.
