How do remote workers get around Valencia?

Valencia is a small city but it is also diverse in terms of its neighborhoods and the many available activities around town, making it important to know exactly how remote workers get around Valencia. As a major tourist hotspot both for domestic and international visitors, the city has an excellent transport infrastructure which makes it easy for remote workers to get around Valencia. The public transportation system operates from 4:30am until around midnight, after which all individuals are advised to use the taxi system or walk in groups, if possible. With a wide range of transit options and relevant fares for different types of visitor, this article outlines some of the most convenient ways for remote workers to get around Valencia.

Before you set off on the city’s public transport system, remote workers will want to decide which ticket to buy. Single journeys on most transport options cost 1.5EUR, but if you are staying in the city for longer you will want to buy a long-term pass. We recommend the TAT (Tarjeta de Abono Temporal) which allows you to use all of the city’s transport options for a one-time fee per month. The city’s transit system is divided into six zones, so the cost of your ticket will depend on how many zones you purchase, but in average a Monthly Pass a cost of around 63EUR and can be purchased at any station.

Valencia’s bus system is convenient and certainly advisable for remote workers looking to get a sense of the city in a more casual setting than the Metro. Bus stops are generally well-marked and have scannable QR codes you can check on your phone to see when the nearest bus will arrive. There is also a night bus service which serves the city (the “N” Line) which can be useful if you’re out on weekend nights. In general, it is recommended you research the bus route well and have a map handy with you if you decide to use this method.

Remote workers also get around Valencia using the city’s Metro system. With six underground lines, Valencia’s metro system is the fastest and most convenient way of getting around the city. Trains are clean and modern, providing users with a safe and fast experience. The subway system here is operated by MetroValencia and connects all parts of the city, with major transfer hubs between lines at Benimaclet, Jesús and Ángel Guimera stations. The cost of a single journey is 1.5EUR but can be cheaper if you obtain a TAT Pass or a Bonometro Card.

Places in Valencia which cannot be reached using the Metro system are usually served by the city’s trams. These are somewhat slower than the metro and serve less popular parts of the city but do offer great connections to some major attractions including the Palace of Congress, the Serranos Tower and the city’s beaches by the Maritim-Serrería Station, served by Tram Line 6 and Line 8. The tram operates the same hours as the Metro and is largely considered safe and clean.

Remote Workers looking to get out of the city will also cherish the fact Valencia’s Nord Station is located centrally in the city and offers a range of useful train services. While these are not suitable for getting around the city, train services from Nord cover main commuter areas outside Valencia and also major cities around Spain and Europe. For example, Nord offers a high-speed service to Madrid in just over 90 minutes, as well as international rail services. It is advised to always book well in advance for longer-distance journeys and high-speed service to Madrid.
